Training as an Intern: Marketing Operations Story #1

Updated: Aug 30, 2022

By Trevor Adams

In my time as an Automate 2 Inspire intern I’ve learned multiple things:

  1. What marketing operations is and how it applies to Automate2Inspire's mission

  2. The Salesforce platform and how it relates to data and automation

  3. What the future could look like if I choose a tech career

A2I Intern Trevor Adams

Over the past few weeks, I’ve learned the extensive processes and precautions the whole company does to be professional, efficient, and collaborative. At the beginning of this 3-week internship I really got the feel for how the C.O.O. and C.E.O. treat their employees. They treat you with a high level of respect and they show compassion and a deep level of understanding. Additionally, while doing those things, they keep you true to your word and hold you responsible for your actions.

At the beginning of my journey, I didn’t even know what a lead was. Now I know the responsibilities and importance of my position and what to do to help A2I to scale and ramp up the workplace environment and efficiency. Another aspect is the importance of great relationships as a key to operating with your co-workers at a high level and to be on the same page as others. For my specific job, my success is determined by the habits I form and do daily. Those habits are user management, data management, actionable analytics, and security. Some examples of what I learned include:

  • Data management: has many categories which include reviewing and maintaining data, backing up data, and cleansing data. There’s also reviewing and refreshing, maintaining and improving, and creating and maintaining the data dictionary. See the AskNya data dictionary here.

  • User management: has many features, but the ones I focused on during my internship was observing users, review and reporting on user adoption, communicating about upcoming changes, and creating and maintaining a user guide.

To do these jobs effectively, scheduling out the week is vital for productivity. Sure, you might be thinking, "Wow isn’t 15 too young to start this high-profile job?” The simple answer is no! When you have the drive, dedication and positivity, like I do, there is no limit. I assure you, I will produce results to the best of my capabilities. I think this opportunity is a great match for my ambitious and dedicated personality. I look forward to developing my skills and abilities to become the best I can be. I look forward to seeing my future with this organization, and what’s to come for years.
